Alexandria “Support Our Troops” Fundraiser

[ September 11, 2010; ] A “Support Our Troops” silent auction will be held in conjunction with a naming ceremony for the Alexandria VA outreach clinic on Sept. 11, 2010. The silent auction will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Fat Daddy’s Bar & Grill, 115 30th Ave. E., with lunch being served from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The naming ceremony is at 1:00 p.m. at the Alexandria VA clinic, 515 22nd Ave. E. The event is sponsored by the American Legion Post 87 and members of the Alexandria community.

Greater MN papers in accord: All candidates need to address rural issues

Last Thursday, CGMC held a gubernatorial candidate forum during its annual summer conference in Winona. In a statementissued on Tuesday, CGMC President Tim Strand, Mayor of St. Peter, thanked candidates Tom Horner and Mark Dayton for accepting the organization’s invitation, and expressed disappointment that Rep. Tom Emmer declined the opportunity to address rural issues at the forum. Rep. Emmer’s choice sparked spirited discussion among greater Minnesota editorial boards.

CGMC candidate forums generate constructive discussion of rural MN issues

CGMC would like to thank gubernatorial candidates Mark Dayton and Tom Horner, and state auditor candidates Pat Anderson and Rebecca Otto for attending candidate forums held last week in Winona during CGMC’s annual summer conference. Both forums generated fruitful debate and discussion of issues on the minds of rural Minnesotans.
